The acts just confirmed for Bluesfest 2020

CROWDED House, Dave Matthews Band, Patti Smith and George Benson have been confirmed for the Bluesfest 2020 line up.

Other artists announced by organisers of the Byron Bay event include Brandi Carlile, John Butler, Xavier Rudd, The Cat Empire, Morcheeba, John Prine, Jenny Lewis, Frank Turner, John Mayall, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Marcus King Band, Walter Trout, Christone 'Kingfish' Ingram, Greensky Bluegrass, Larkin Poe plus The War & Treaty.

George Benson and Brandi Carlile are the two artists to make their Bluesfest debut from the line up announced today.

Crowded House, the rock band formed in Melbourne in 1985, headlined Bluesfest in 2009.

Current members are Neil Finn (he played Bluesfest 2017), Nick Seymour, Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod.

The band's last shows were in November 2016 at the Sydney Opera House, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Farewell to the World show.

The shows marked 20 years since the band played their farewell gigs at the Sydney Opera House forecourt.

2020 will be Dave Matthews Band's third visit to Bluesfest.

Peter Noble, Bluesfest Festival Director, was happy to confirm the band for the next event.

"Dave Matthews Band are one of the top grossing, most in demand bands in the world – and finally they are coming back to Bluesfest. This is going to be magical and unmissable," he said.

Patti Smith and her band conquered Bluesfest in 2017, and she went on to win the Helpmann Award that year for Best International Contemporary Concert.

The best-selling author, performance poet and visual artist is a Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame inductee, recipient of the Polar Music Prize, a human rights activist and also holds the honour of Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres from the French Ministry of Culture.

Patti Smith said she was happy to come back to Byron Bay next year.

"I'd like to do it all over again…. I'm ready if you are!"
